Will I lose my files during virus removal?
In almost all cases, no — removing malware doesn't touch your documents and photos. If ransomware has encrypted files we'll be straight with you about what's recoverable, and we always recommend a backup before any major work.
Do you need to wipe and reinstall Windows?
Usually not. We remove the infection while keeping your files and programs in place. A full reinstall is a last resort and we'll only suggest it if it's genuinely the best option for your machine.
I got a pop-up saying to call Microsoft — is that real?
No. "Your computer is infected, call this number" messages are scareware scams — Microsoft and Apple never do this. Don't call the number or give remote access. Bring it to us and we'll clear it and check nothing else was installed.
How long does virus removal take?
